Book Cover Illustration and Design

Purpose: I had intended my imaginative piece as an illustration for a sort of story, and since I was partly inspired by Dracula’s castle, I imagined my own alternate book cover for Dracula and created a mockup (Original photoshop file sourced from mrmockup.com) to showcase my designs.

Planning: After creating the watercolour illustration, I imported it into illustrator and made a few drafts of different Dracula titles and author arrangements and fonts with drop shadows and different shades of red and dark grey. 

Preparation: I received feedback from some peers and one of my art instructors for arrangements and fonts and it was recommended that I darken and spot correct the painting in Photoshop. I made a mask to darken the sky and blurred/spot corrected where the pigment pooled too much in the painting.
